I invite you to contemplate this quote…
"Inside every parent triggered by their child's behavior is a child who wasn't safe when they behaved in the same way." - Amanda Erikson, Institute of Child Psychology
This one gives me all the feels. It certainly hit home the first time I read it too. Our children can be our greatest teachers — if we listen and pay attention.
The planets give insights into where to look for clues…
Here’s how some key ones show us our kids’ needs.
☀️ THE SUN - Who we are
Our longing to BE ("I am") and create.
The sun shows us where we need to be seen and recognized — where we need to matter and how we express ourselves.
🧠 MERCURY - The logical and rational mind
Mercury shows us how we communicate and fulfill our longing to share perceptions and ideas with others. It needs to know, learn, and establish lines of communication with others.
Now, not a planet, but our AC - Ascendant (or rising sign)
Our Ascendant is where our first house begins. It's the sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It gives us clues as to what our souls are learning in this lifetime on Earth.
I explore these in-depth in The Luminary Parent Course.
And lastly…
🌕 THE MOON - How we feel and react
Our longing to feel, connect, and be safe and secure.
The moon reassures us that ALL feelings have a safe space. It needs to connect to loved ones and belong, trusting that our emotions matter.
Let’s explore your (and your kids’) natal moons.
The moon represents the maternal emotional signature and carries cellular (emotional) memories from the past and other lifetimes.
We know it well, choose it, and are birthed through it.
Since Moon is the “Mom” or maternal caregiver, it’s our childhood emotional foundation and lives in our bodies.
What can your natal moon tell you?
-
Your most pressing need (especially the first 7 years of life)
-
How we come HOME to ourselves
-
What kind of emotional foundation we needed (and still do)
-
Why we’re unconsciously wired to seek emotional nourishment
-
What we need to feel happy, safe, comfortable, soothed, and seen
When you learn about your natal moon, it makes your life flow just a little easier. Everything makes sense.
Now, imagine you have this information for your child too. When you know what kind of emotional foundation your kids need, you can provide it.
Remember when your kids were babies? You had to guess what they needed. Each pitch of cry or whimper meant something different. It took you time to decode it, but you figured it out.
Parenting with your child’s natal moon in mind is that extra dose of mother’s intuition. It shows you where and how you need to be so your child can grow up feeling safe and secure.
