A Full Moon in Feel It All Cancer

Happy New Year!

We have a full moon on Friday, January 6, at 6:08 pm Eastern time at 16° of Cancer.

This full moon is a biggie because the moon is in its home sign — feel it all Cancer. 

During a full moon, something is brought to the surface for us to see, but because it’s in the feeling sign of Cancer, something is bubbling up to FEEL. It likely has some Cancerian themes to it too — like home, family, insecurities, vulnerabilities, worries, mother issues, mothering or emotional stuff that originated in childhood. These are all things we hold close to our heart.

When I say Cancer is here to feel it ALL — I’m not exaggerating. We can have all sorts of emotions surface that are important for our soul’s work while we’re down here on the Earth in Earth school. 

☀️ The sun is opposite in Capricorn.

The sun in Capricorn asks us to focus on what’s important. Saturn rules Capricorn, a planet that likes to remind us of limits. An example: Our time on Earth is limited, we all leave it someday, and everybody will die eventually. In astrology, the Sun show’s us who we are —we’ll just be a memory for everyone someday. Saturn tends to get straight to the point and be quite morbid. 

🌕 And we have the moon in family-oriented and sensitive Cancer, where we feel all of this in our hearts. At the end of our life, all that really matters is how well we loved.

We’ll really feel this work-family conflict inside of us. In astrology, Cancer and Capricorn are strong cardinal signs. 

A question to explore: How can you prioritize and structure your life so that what’s important at the end of your life is present today?

The moon is making a square to Chiron.

This can stir up old wounds and trauma from childhood. Our inner child may also feel a lot under this Cancer full moon and may be quite vocal. 

That inner child needs nurturing, so be with their fears. This is the time to mother the heck out of yourself, big time!

How to apply this astrology to you

In your natal chart, find two things: 

1. The house Cancer rules

2. Where 16° of Cancer is. 

It’s either in the same house or two different houses. If it’s in two houses, then both of them will be highlighted. The question we always ask: What’s showing up right now for you and your life?

Mercury is also opposite of the moon and remember, Mercury is retrograde, so some old issues could resurface. And it may be time to have an important conversation or take another look at a past issue.
